Slovenia to Become Full Member of European Space Agency
The government decided in its Thursday session that Slovenia will become an active partner of the European Space Agency (ESA). This way, the country will be able to boost the development of its own R&D capacities for participation in EU space projects. Slovenia gained observer status in February. Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Gregor Golobic was tasked today with signing a full cooperation agreement. To become full members of ESA, EU states must earmark at least EUR 1m for a special programme every year. The Slovenian government believes that the country will get back some 90% in form of orders for high-tech companies, research institutions and cooperation for students.
